Penetration depth of the light. The Dynalux 700 can achieve a penetration depth of approx. 3 to 4 mm.

Innovative, low pain PDT
The Dynalux 700 PDT system Dynalux 700 was specially developed for treatment with special photo-sensitizators. A high performance halogen lamp creates a selective red light ray with a high energy density. A large amount of “cold” red light is created by the IR filter technology and the extent of irradiated skin is reduced thereby. The system is movable, space saving and is characterized by good functionality and simple operation. Dynalux 700 possesses a wide exposure surface of approx 200 cm2. The use of Dynalux 700 has proven to be beneficial in other therapies also, e.g. in the treatment of warts.
What is photodynamic therapy? Photodynamic therapy, PDT for short, is a form of cancer therapy using light. In this process, a special photo-sensitizator is accumulated in the tumor tissue and then irradiated with a specific wavelength of visible light. The collaboration of light and photo-sensitizator creates a cellular poison which destroys the tumor cells. PDT is suitable for the treatment of actinic keratosis on the face and on the head and of the upper and nodular basal cell carcinomas, for example. At present, in these diseases, continual increase is observed.
The affected skin area will be treated photo-dynamically a second time with an interval of 7 days. After the removal of flakes of skin and crusts, the cream is thinly spread and occludes hermetically for a specific period. After some hours, the active substance will have preferentially accumulated in the degenerate skin cells.
Endogenous protoporphyrin IX (PP9) is created from ALA (amino laevulinic acid) in several steps, and this acts as a stronger photo-sensitizator. This is used in the ensuing red light radiation, which can last up to 30 minutes. This leads to the destruction of the pre-cancerous tissue by necrosis and/or apoptosis. The outcome of the treatment should be checked after 3 months. Most of the known photo-sensitizators were tested in various studies in connection with red light in the range of 630 nm with very good results.
Important – The optimal combination The combination of ALA cream and light is decisive for the success of the therapy. Favorable results will be attained with red light of a wavelength of around 630 nm. The healthy surrounding skin is hardly affected.
Good cosmetic effect and better toleration PDT convinces through the effectiveness of the procedure, and the good cosmetic effect. As far as the other procedures are concerned, the usual scar formation practically doesn’t occur with PDT. Also, PDT is usually clearly less painful than many other procedures. Usually this is a very safe method of removal of skin alterations which must otherwise be treated surgically, and one which has very few side effects.
